I have had the pleasure of working at Knypersley First School within the Early Years team since starting my teaching career in April 2016. I feel extremely fortunate to have started my career in a school, and now an academy, where development is at the heart of everything that it does. Since beginning my leadership journey in 2019, I have taken on the role of Early Years Lead, Phonic Lead and more recently Special Educational Needs and Disability Leader. I have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunities and wealth of experience that working as part of the CFLP has presented. I have attended governor’s meetings as a staff governor, helping to support and assist in driving forward the school’s vision.

Pen portrait: I am very happy to have been appointed as parent governor by the Children First Learning Partnership Directors and am now looking forward to working to continue to provide excellent educational experiences for our local children at both Kingsfield and Knypersley schools.
Having started my teaching career in a local Biddulph first school in 1996, I have always had connections to the area before finally moving into Biddulph myself in 2008, after meeting my partner Ivan. I love living within a town community and enjoy getting involved in local events, which bring the community together, including events which involve our local schools and benefit our children.
During my Primary teaching career, I have worked in a range of schools, including overseas and SEN, and also a range of school structures, including two tier, three tier and private education, so feel equipped with a wide range of experiences to bring to the federation. The passion I have for science, on both a personal and educational level, has led me to my current role as Science Influencer and coach for Stoke, providing support to other local schools to strive for excellence in developing their science curriculum.
As a mum to Keenan, who is a Year Two pupil at Knypersley, I understand the importance of ensuring our children receive an exciting and high quality start in the their educational journey to provide the foundations for a happy and successful future ahead.
Outside of my busy work schedule, I enjoy making the most of the school holidays by enjoying quality family time, which include nature walks, bike rides and as many holidays as I can fit in!

I am delighted to have been elected to be a LAB member at Knypersley First, having had my first experience of the school when I joined the reception class at 5 years old! My, now 18-year-old, son also attended Knypersley First and thoroughly enjoyed his time there.
Professionally, I joined the education sector in 2015 and knew immediately that it was where my heart lay - I have the privilege of having a positive impact on our children’s lives. My initial role within education was in a primary school setting where I started as a Clerical Assistant and progressed to being and Administration and Data Protection Officer as well as PA to the governors. I have recently moved to a middle school where I am working in a Finance and HR role and am continuing to learn lots of new skills.
I am a true believer that we never stop learning and am keen to use the skills and knowledge I have, to assist Knypersley First, and in turn the CFLP, in any way that I can. I completed my School Business Manager Diploma in 2021 and am currently studying an accountancy qualification.
When I am not working, I can normally be found reading, dismantling inanimate objects, playing on a Lego game on my Nintendo Switch or having fluffy cuddles with my Cockerpoo (Sirius). Oh, and of course spending time with my family.

I have lived in Biddulph for over 4 years, before that I lived in Stoke-on-Trent and spent my university education in Manchester, where I earned my English and Sociology Degree. I then attended Keele University to complete my PGCE. At present, I am working at St Maria Goretti Catholic Academy in Stoke-on-Trent and have been a teacher and humanities leader there for six years. In 2021, I passed my National Professional Qualification in Middle Leadership. I have worked during two Ofsted inspections, the most recently in Spring 2022, where both outcomes were strong.
From the moment I became a teacher, I knew that working with children was a privilege and a vocation. Therefore, having the ability to now contribute to the development of the school where my own children attend is something I do not take for granted. I am passionate about whole-school curriculum development, SEN and Reading for Pleasure, to name a few. I hope that my experience in my current role can help assist Knypersley First School to continue succeeding.
In my spare time, I like to spend time with my children, Pippa (7) and Aiden (3) and my partner. I am an avid reader and spend many evenings reading a range of books- many of these are children’s fiction!
